Pipe Line Development Company (PLIDCO) Achieves
ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 Certifications
|
The Pipe Line Development Company (PLIDCO®), the world’s leading supplier of products for pipeline repair and maintenance, announced it has achieved
ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certification.
The internationally recognized ISO 9001 certification is a process which documents and verifies that a specific design/engineering and manufacturing facility consistently operates at a world-class quality level.
To achieve ISO 9001:2008 certification, PLIDCO had to meet the latest international ISO requirements for a quality management system. It did this by:
- demonstrating its ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and
- aiming to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- PLIDCO® has been ISO 9001:200 certified since 2000 and recently achieved the latest ISO 9001:2008 certification. This was done by demonstrating its ability at effective planning, operation and control of its processes and the implementation and continual improvement of the effectiveness of its Quality Management System.
ISO 14001:2004 certification is a process which enables an organization to develop, implement, maintain and improve an environmental management system.
To achieve ISO 14001:2004 certification, PLIDCO® had to demonstrate conformity with ISO 14001:2004 by having its environmental management system certified and registered through an accredited certification organization.
“Both the voluntary ISO 14001 and 9001 certifications demonstrate PLIDCO®’s commitment to quality in its products and processes and its ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction through quality control,” said Kim Smith, marketing manager, PLIDCO®.
The company’s principal product categories are leak-enclosure fittings, connector fittings, hot-tapping/line-plugging products, and custom-designed fittings. The products have been designed for pressures up to 10,000 psi and temperatures from -250 degrees Fahrenheit to +900 degrees Fahrenheit. The company maintains an inventory of standard products in API pipe sizes, 1-1/2 inches through 48 inches, for pressures up to 2000 psi.

The
Pipeline Development Company, the world’s leading supplier
of products for pipeline repair and maintenance, has introduced
the PLIDCO®+Flange, a fitting designed for making tie-in
connections on prefabricated expansion and rework projects.
Useful for hundreds of applications, PLIDCO®+Flanges are particularly
valuable for making tie-in connections in process lines. The
products are easy to install, even in hard-to-reach locations
such as high overhead piping, conduits and tunnels, tight manifolds
or in hazardous locations.
The PLIDCO®+Flange provides a pressure-tight seal, with no need
for welding unless specified. It is designed to save the user
time, money and energy in making pipe repairs. In addition, the
PLIDCO®+Flange can be removed and used again, or welded later
with the pipeline in operation.
To install, no special preparation of the pipe ends is necessary.
After cutting the pipe, the
installer simply slides the PLIDCO®+Flange onto the end of the
pipe until it is within about one inch of the flange face. After
the connecting mating pipe with flange is brought into place,
the installer rotates PLIDCO®+Flange, and/or the mating pipe,
until the flange bolt holes on the two flanges line up. S everal
flange bolts may be inserted to assist with the alignment.
Next, the installer advances the clamp screws in order to center
the PLIDCO®+Flange on the pipe. The flange bolts are then tightened
to their specified torque, as are all clamping screws. When
the end thrust screws are tightened, it causes the steel thrust
ring to move forward and squeeze the packing ring against the
pipe, assuring a pressure-tight seal.
If welding is specified, the pipeline is first put in operation,
following the recommended pressures. First, thrust screws are
cut or burned off flush. The end of the coupling is fillet-welded
around the circumference, including the seal-welding of the
thrust screws. Clamping screws are then cut or burned off and
seal-welded.
The Pipe Line Development Company has been helping companies
avoid costly shutdowns with pipeline repairs for over 50 years.
Today, the company is the world’s leading designer and
builder of standard and custom engineered products for pipeline
repair and maintenance.

The
PLIDCO® Weld + Ends, a safety welding coupling, enables
pipes to be joined without special preparation of the pipe
ends. Available from the Pipe Line Development Company, Weld
+ Ends couplings are used for joining high and low pressure
pipelines carrying crude oil, gasoline, gas, steam, asphalt,
chemicals and water.
Featuring a unique, patented construction, the Weld + Ends couplings
allow pipelines to resume operation immediately at recommended
pressures, keeping downtime to a minimum. The Weld + Ends coupling
slides onto the cut pipe ends; after fully tightening the clamping
and thrust screws, the pipe is joined and a leakproof seal is
established.
Standard Weld + Ends couplings have a single row of clamping
and thrust screws at each end. The coupling is operational when
the screws are tightened, or it can be welded. If necessary,
it can be welded with the pipeline in operation. When welding
is not feasible, and excessive end-pulling loads are involved,
additional rows of clamping screws or PLIDCO® clamp rings can
be provided.
Standard sizes of the PLIDCO® Weld + Ends couplings range in API
pipe sizes from 1-1/2” through 48” and at working
pressures up to 2000 psi. Special sizes, diameters, lengths and
pressures can be custom designed.
The PLIDCO® Weld + Ends are delivered ready for installation,
enabling fast and efficient pipeline joining with minimal downtime.

The
PLIDCO® Smith + Clamp is designed to locate and shut
off high-pressure pit-hole leaks in piping. Available from
the Pipe Line Development Company, the lightweight clamp
is easy to install, even in darkness or a pipeline submersed
in water or oil.
The clamp features a unique, patented, pilot pin that guides
a cone point into the pit hole and centers it on the leak. Pressure
applied behind the cone by a force screw provides the minimum
force required to shut off the leak. Exerting pressure directly
on the cone eliminates the danger of caving in a badly corroded
pipe. Draw bolts at the bottom of the fitting hold the clamp
in place.
Standard sizes of the PLIDCO® Smith + Clamp range in pipe sizes
from 1-1/2” through 48” and at working pressures
up to 2000 psi. Special sizes can be custom designed.
The PLIDCO® Smith + Clamp is delivered ready for installation,
enabling fast and efficient pipeline repair. Line pressures do
not need to be reduced during installation of the Smith + Clamp,
which keeps downtime to a minimum.
